Ziomek , Mary . Obituary


Mary Ziomek, 93, a resident of The Terraces at Allied Services and formerly of Pittston, died Friday evening March 5, 2010 at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Ziomek who died December 22, 1999. They had been married 56 years.

Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Mancos, and she was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston and she was presently a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. She was educated in Pittston schools and prior to retirement she was employed by the Pittston Apparel Company.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was a devout catholic. She was a very private person who prayed the rosary daily, and she will be deeply missed by her family.

Surviving is a son, Bernard Ziomek and wife Mary Ann, Scott Twp.; granddaughters, Suzanne Hine and husband Robert, Olyphant and Paulette Meta and husband Michael, Archbald; great grandchildren, Robert Jr. and Ashley Hine and Alec and Celeste Meta.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Mancos and sister Bertha Zambor.

The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Exeter. Friends may call Sunday 3 to 6 p.m.
